Membership Secretary kimbo29uk on the forum I'm Kim, Steve's missus! I've always liked Beetles and really wanted one for my first car. Unfortunately mum was putting up half the money so I got told I had to get something 'sensible'! Once the sensible Fiesta got written off I got back into the idea of Beetles again and so we ended up with Roobarb, our 1303. We joined LTV at the same time and haven't looked back. Now our daily driver is also a VW (a Mk 2 Golf GTi) there's no stopping us. Over the last couple of years LTV has become a way of life for us. I've really enjoyed all the events we've attended so after a bit of persuasion I decided to take on the role of Events Secretary. When I'm not doing LTV stuff I'm a bit of an artsy crafty type, and I run a Brownie Unit in Reading (where *all* the girls know about Beetle engines being in the boot!). At the start of 2007 we decided that nice as a Beetle and a tent might be we really wanted a camper to use at the weekend shows, for camping and to take to Europe for a mini tour we'd been planning, enter Leonard, a 1971 Westfalia Campmobile imported from California in late 2006. Lowered a touch and loaded with junk we took him on an 1800 mile trip to Le Mans for the 24hr race, then onto Bad Camberg for the historic VW showand then home via the Nurburgring. Plans for the future include a bit of TLC to the interior and more lazy long weekends. |
