LTV Makes The News Again Wokingham Advertiser - 11
December
Christmas came early to Bracknell on Sunday the 11th of December when LTV held its pre-Christmas meet. Over 30 VWs braved the cold foggy afternoon to get to the final club meet of 2005. For those of you that don't know, there was a photographer from the local paper, the Wokingham Standard, at the December Bracknell meet. One of the photos made the free paper. Kim takes centre stage, with a fine supporting cast of me (TallPaul), Steve Prior and Wayne. Many people decorated their cars for the festive period and brought along Yuletide munchies to go with the mulled wine (prepared on the stove of one of the clubs campers and served from the flatbed of a split crewcab - the biggest picnic table I've ever seen!!). All that was missing was Santa and some snow. As well as the usual beetles and type 2’s, several water-cooled motors and a lone Trekker attended the meet. It was a great chance to see old friends and make new ones. Someone had sent the details of the meet to the local paper and a photographer was dispatched to capture the event. After piling a plate up with mince pies, several club members adopted cheesy poses for the camera around the front of our 1303. The newspaper article can be seen on the left.. It was great way to end a busy 2005 for the club. The break over Christmas will give everyone a chance to recharge their batteries and prepare for the new season when the club hopes to display at many of the major shows, as well as staging its own show, “Dubs at the Park”, for the third year running on May 14th. shows. Steve & Kim Prior, (photos © Steve Prior)
