Notchback Cabriolet

A DREAM NEVER TO BE A REALITY ...

The Notchback Cabriolet remains only a prototype and was never mass produced or sold. It was designed and tested alongside the Sedan in 1960-61 but never made it past the pre-production stage. Wilhelm Karmann, of Osnabruck, was responsible for the prototype design and construction. Although there were Notch Cabrios shown in 1961-62, and there are believed to have been between 10-20 built for the initial VW 1500 series introductions, there are only believed to be 2 remaining worldwide.
There is a Red one with a Black top at the VW Museum in Wolfsburg, Germany and a White one with a Black top at the Karmann Museum in Osnabruck, Germany.
