McDonald's online VW competition
McDonald's in Australia has teamed up with Volkswagen,
giving customers the chance to win one of five New Beetle cars in the
fast food giant's new Web-based competition.
The competition is being used as part of McDonald's
marketing campaign for its new German-themed burger, the Burgermeister.
Volkswagen will supply five New Beetles, valued
at A$37,000 each, for the BeetleMania competition, which will run on Burgermeister.com.au.
Entrants will be asked to answer five questions
to have a chance to win a Beetle.
"At McDonald's we pride ourselves on keeping
up with technology and giving customers unique opportunities, and the
launch of our first ever online competition represents an important milestone
in our marketing strategy," McDonald's Australia director of marketing
Joe Talcott said.
The online competition is a response to research
that showed a larger proportion of McDonald's customers are using the
Internet. Entry forms for the competition will also be available to McDonald's
customers in-store.
