Sandown Park 2001
The weekend of the 24th and 26th March saw yet
another massive VW event at Sandown Park. As ever this was one of the
best shows of the year, despite some ominous weather the day before the
weekend itself turned out pretty well for the time the year.

| The Stand @ Sandown |
Both inside and out and out there were some great cars to see, plenty of stands in which to buy everything aircooled and plenty of people to see and meet. The only disadvantage with seeing all those show cars was the it makes most peoples VW's look a bit scruffy in comparison, but I won't lose heart and will continue on bettering my own bug.
The split screen van now owned by Jamie Oliver
(aka the naked chef) was supposed to turn up. Yet this was not to be -
his van broke down (perhaps he should have been on the Mutual aid List).

| Vara's Facepainting proved a runaway success |
Being a two-day event, Sandown Park absorbs
a lot of time, so a very big thank you to all those he put time in at
the club stand and especially to Ross and Annette who stayed all weekend
to make sure that club's presence was there from beginning to end. Also
at big thank you to Vara who's face painting stand next the club shop
proved very popular with both kids and parents. You can see the results
of her art in these pictures, although you need to see them in colour
to get the full effect.
We saw plenty of club members at this show and
also recruited loads of new members. So all in all the club's presence
at Sandown Park was a great success, it's a credit to Volksworld magazine
that such a show keeps getting better and better. I for one will definitely
be going again next year.
