Lucky Bugger

Hi all, Del here.. a few of you may already know me as the Webmaster for the London & Thames Valley Club website (www.ltv-vwc.org.uk). Anyhow just wanted to say Hi to all you fellow dubbers and try to encourage you NOT to be too shy.

I picked up my latest addition to my Veedub collection today - a 1972 Bug, now called 'Bart'. Hope you won't mind me sharing the brief story of my bit-o-luck :) I stopped outside my local chippy in GAWSH (My white Cal-looker) and a young boy stood in the queue was obviously impressed <Grin> and as I joined them his dad started to chat to me about the car. An older gent, also in the queue, then chipped in with news of his brother's old Beetle that had been laid up in his garage for the last 10 yrs. I offered to advertise the bug for sale in the club magazine 'Wheelspin' and asked the man to check with his Bro. regarding a price. It was stored locally so I arranged to check out the car the following day. Well the car was completely original. Full VW Service history, one owner from new! 109k miles - price £700 and I had no doubt anyone who looked at it would be delighted to pick it up so cheap.
Now it comes to pass that I had just that week decided that there were too many miles going on GAWSH (agreed sum insurance policies on modified vehicles are usually restricted) and I needed a second car... it was going to be my sister in-law's Polo. BUT.. the bug was good and I cheekily offered to take it away for £450... well you know the ending :))) Sometimes in life you just get lucky ... I hope some comes your way soon. I look forward to hearing from you all, as I say don't be shy.

Regards, Del.
