Just about every VW model has been used by the Police somewhere and at sometime. Later models were simply conversions of production models, rather than complete custom models, as in the initial days of the specialist 4 door beetles. The Type 3 and Type 4 have been used, as have the water cooled Golf (pictured in the service of the Slovakian and Dutch police) and Passat. Various Porsche models (including the VW built 914) have been used, while the luckiest of all; the Dutch police ; get to drive around in the New Beetle, jammy buggers!

And January's Volksworld had the Liverpool community police driving around in a New Beetle on loan from the local VW dealership; Corkhills. We can only hope that this initiative spreads throughout the country.
