Practical
Classics Photoshoot
(see
front cover of Wheelspin June 99)
After
years of tagging along with my sister to various VW shows and photo
shoots, that she was involved in, with her bug, exhibiting at the NEC
in Birmingham for the National Classic Motor Show 1994, and a film shoot
at Silverstone, that was unfortunately never televised, it was nice
to have been considered for something that involved me and my mean machine.
Practical
Classics were looking for a VW Golf convertible and a VW Beetle convertible
for a photo shoot taking place at the Lutterworth Race Track for a feature
on Convertibles that can be purchased for less than £5k
.
which will be featured in a future edition of the magazine!
My day started with a long drive up to the M1, and arriving very early, in time to see all the other cars roll in. There was about fifteen different makes and models of cars, ranging from a MG Midget, Talbot Sunbeam, Triumph Spitfire and an absolutely beautifully restored Triumph Herald with the chrome spoke wheels. All the cars that were supposed to be there arrived, except for the one, the VW Beetle Convertible?. Unfortunately, there was a problem and the owner couldn't make it to the photo shoot, what a shame!
What
a day. It was an excellent day out and a real honour to have been included
as one of such a large group of vehicle owners, who all had one thing
in common, a love for their vehicles.
I was
interviewed and photographed with my machine. When I was asked, why
I own a VW dub, I quoted the advertising slogan that Volkswagen have
used in their ad campaigns that is so true, If only everything
in life, was as reliable as a Volkswagen.
So to everyone reading this?.. You could be next, what a buzz, getting you vehicle featured? So ensure that your vehicle details are up to date and correct on the Club’s database.
