Hi
all! Well, the summer season has well and truly started, it seems that
just about every weekend there is something going on, ~BRILLIANT! My
van is packed up with all the essentials and ready to go at a moments
notice.
What
a wonderful sense of freedom and what a way to wind down! When I’m
driving along, heading out of town, I can feel the stress just fade
away and I feel so sorry for those driving past me at speed, always
in a hurry ~ mind you, the shoe’s on the other foot when I’m
parked up on the hard shoulder waiting for the RAC!
The
Runnymead Picnic
What
a great afternoon! After the rotten weather over that weekend we were
fully expecting the picnic to be rained off but, the morning started
off dry and the sun came out, so there was no stopping us! It was great
to see all the well-loved and cherished cars and vans, and lovely to
meet the proud owners and their families!
Committee
Meetings
In
an effort to encourage more participation from Club Members, we thought
it would be a good idea to publish the dates/time/venue of the Club’s
Committee Meetings .
The Club’s Committee Meetings are held every month at The Load
of Hay Pub, Villier Street, Uxbridge. The dates for the next 3 meetings
are:
Thursday,
1st July 1999 at 8pm
Thursday, 5th August 1999 at 8pm
Thursday, 9th September 1999 at 8pm
So,
if you would like to have some input into these meetings, i.e. new ideas,
suggestions or opinions, please call the Club Hotline, e-mail or write
in, in advance of the meetings and come along!.
The
‘Run to the Eclipse’!
This
trip is sounding better and better! Free Entertainment is being organised
with Club Members volunteering their services and there will hopefully
be a wide range of events and competitions to keep the campers happy!
If you haven’t booked yet to see this once in a lifetime, natural
wonder and also have a great and extremely cheap holiday, you’d
best get that cheque posted a.s.a.p!!! Don’t forget, it is only
£75 per vehicle!
The
Uxbridge Charity Autoshow
Whilst
in the Pub the other night ‘licking and sticking’ the June
issue of Wheelspin ready for posting, we were approached by the organisers
of the Uxbridge Charity Autoshow and asked if we would like to display
some of our members vehicles there! The Show is being held on Sunday,
18th July 1999 at 10am until 5.30pm and we thought it would be nice
to support it as the money raised will go to Charity. More details of
this event to follow in this issue!
Cruises
Don’t
forget the Cruise to BVF ( 2nd - 4th July ) and Vanfest ( 17th - 19th
September ), details were in last months Wheelspin but you can give
the Hotline a ring if you want the details again! If you can’t
make the Cruise and want to make your own way there but want to camp
on the Club Camp Site, can you still let me know as I need some ideas
re numbers!
Cruises are also being arranged to VW Action on September 10th to 14th,
and a Club Cruise to Camden on Saturday, 21st August ’99. Further
details re these are to follow.
