Venezuela Trip

Karen next to a Brazilian Barndoor bay window

Dear Wheelspin,

Having been members of your club for about the past six months (since we bought our first type 2), I thought it about time I put pen to paper to tell of chapters that have occurred in our short time as members. Firstly, having just been-to Venezuela (neighbouring country to Brazil) -1-thought I'd send you a couple of snaps that we took whilst away. As it turns out, half our holiday shots turned out be of VW's, and this sort of follows on from your Boys from Brazil article. We were both shocked to see so many dubs in such a different country, with lots of strange hybrids. Our sightings included type 2 bay windows with barn doors (used for both business purposes and personal - photos enclosed), a type 2 used as a school bus (very cool), another bay with the Splittie back windows (photo enclosed), loads of beetles (though no oval windows) and only one Splittie that was in bad need of some TLC. Secondly, we also did the trip up to Newquay a few weeks ago for RTTS and had a great time. Except for one instance when our van failed to start in a hotel car park where we were not supposed to park. A big thank you to the lady with the yellow bay van (also a member), who stopped to offer us some WD40 for our points. It turned out to be flooded, so we were on our way fairly soon.

Yours with no water,

Mark and Karen
