Volkswagen may make Golfs in Sarajevo
Financial Post (Canada) - April 12, 2002
Volkswagen AG has announced its joint venture in Bosnia may soon start
producing Golf cars in addition to the Skoda. Volkswagen Sarajevo, in
which the German company holds a 58% stake and a private Bosnian company
the rest, has been assembling Felicia, Fabia and Octavia models of Volkswagens
Skoda brand since 1998.
Comeback for Corrado
Auto Express April 10, 2002
Not content with the worlds most economical car, and a wacky new
MPV, Volkswagen is now set to diversify its range even further with the
rebirth of a coupé model.
According to company insiders, the Skoda Tudor concept car, unveiled
at the Geneva Motor show in March, will go into production as a VW to
rival the Peugeot 406 Coupé and forthcoming revived, new Ford Capri.
The company has yet to confirm whether the name Corrado will come back
or if the car will wear a new badge.
Based on the platform of the Passat, the new coupe will make use of VWs
vast engine range. Surprisingly, the diesel versions are expected to be
the best sellers, while the W8 petrol units are likely to power flagship
models. Production versions should be ready late next year, priced between
£20,000 and £30,000.
