Express has published what are said to be design proposals for a whole
range of New Beetle spin offs.
A computer
imaging company supplied pictures of four designs on the new car claiming
they were the result of insider information from VW.
The designs included a sporty New Beetle (notice the smaller rear windows
and three rather hideous ideas for a pick-up, van and people carrier.
"We genuinely know nothing about them. Auto Express have been hoodwinked."
said Volkswagen.
Although
VW has shown a one off RSI New Beetle (see last months Wheelspin) I
dearly hope they don’t make the other three. However Auto Express
are adamant and state in reply to the Volkswagen denial, "They
would say that wouldn't they. I admit the van may not happen because
it looks too much like a postman's. But the sports car and pick-up will
probably hit the market."
