Club member Lindsay Milton originally wanted loose fitting seat covers for her bug, I know of a supplier who does genuine new VW seat covers, which are easier to fit than you think and really make your seats good as new, here is my e-mail reply to her query:

There is a company in the states that does quality seat covers for all VWs. I got some Golf seat covers which were excellent (we had comfortable golf seats in our old Beetle). They do the full range of bug and bus seats for all years. Find them at http://www.tmiproducts.com/

I do know of a garage in Reigate called Reigate Heath garage they are on the A25 towards Dorking if you want exact directions please call me on 07966-233617 unfortunately I don't have their No. They specialise in Water cooled cars but I do know that they have worked on some Air-cooled cars. I have never used them so don't know what their quality of work is like.
