New Beetle COLOUR Concept
Volkswagen Press Office, Wolfsburg, September 11, 2001
Volkswagen is now offering the New Beetle to "COLOUR
Concept" specification in Europe. This equipment package, already available
for the Golf, is extremely popular. In addition to the standard equipment
of the New Beetle, COLOUR Concept includes a wide variety of special features
which enhance the appearance of the vehicle and make driving a New Beetle
an even more pleasant experience.
From the outside, the 6 J x 16 "San Àiego"
alloy wheels already show that this is a special New Beetle, an impression
that is underlined bº the wide 205/55 R 16 tyres. The New Beetle
V5 Colour Concept even features 7J x 17" Daytona wheels with 225/45
R17 tyres.
In the interior, the exclusive appearance is accentuated
by black leather trim. The central seat sections and the stitching on
the leather steering wheel trim are matched to the colour of the body.
The body colour is also reflected by the leather gear
lever gaiter, the surrounds of the standard fabric front foot mats and
the door and side trim panels.
A convenient feature which makes winter driving more
comfortable are the heated sports seats offered for the first time on
the New Beetle. They offer firm lateral support even on fast bends. The
66 kW (90 bhp) TDI engine develops considerable torque from low revs.
Petrol engines with power outputs ranging from 85 kW (115 bhp) to 125
kW (170 bhp) are also on offer.
The New Beetle COLOUR Concept is available with attractive
Double Yellow, Black, Red, Cyber Green metallic and Ravenna Blue metallic
colour schemes.
