VW thought to be talking to
Jordan F1 team
VOLKSWAGEN's participation in Formula 1 racing may
have come a step closer. Sources have suggested to AutoWired that the
manufacturer has held talks with the UK Jordan team.
Currently, Jordan gets its engines from Honda. But
that arrangement could be further down the grid next season as Honda is
believed to have told Jordan that next season it only gets one of its
teams kited-out for free.
That may be an opening for Volkswagen, whose new chief
designate, Bernd Pischetsrieder, is known to have a leaning towards seeing
Volkswagen involved in the sport.
But at a Volkswagen works council meeting, earlier
this month, it was concluded that Pischetsrieder has no intention of involving
the company in the circuit. What on earth would Murray Walker make of
it all?
